He stood back up when he saw her look back where he was looking. Gently, he put a hand on her shoulder, looking behind her and back into the bushes. When he realized her hiccups were hone he smiled a little, glad that he was able to help her. "Did you see something?" He asked, blinking a few times and then squinting. "I thought I saw something behind you." The setting reminded him of a horror movie, but those things didn't happen to people in real life did they? When he continued to watch behind her he definitely saw something again. It looked like a person, but wearing a straight jacket. Out of instinct he wrapped his one arm around the girl and froze, waiting for the other person to disappear from his imagination or leave.

Ashley saw something again and twitched with surprise. This was too weird. It was making her nervous. Ashley shivered again. It was chilly in the woods. And dark. No wonder her mind was playing tricks on her. If they were tricks, that is. "I think I did. But I'm not sure," Ashley answered Anthony. She was worried now.
Were Anthony and Ashley having the same hallucination? Ashley had heard that South Ridge Academy used to be an insane asylum before it was changed into a high school. Perhaps now the insanity part was coming back and making them both crazy. Now that was a ridiculous thought. It was probably just a trick of the light, Ashley justified in her mind.

"Maybe we should get out of here?" He suggested quietly, taking a step back. When the ghost or whatever it was started to come towards them he froze once more, wrapping his arms completely around her waist. "What is that.." He asked her, hoping that she saw it too and that he wasn't crazy. There had to be something there. He recalled hearing about the school being build on an old insane asylum. Maybe it was a dead patient. If he wasn't so scared then he would be slightly happy that he had a girl in his arms.

Ashley shivered some more. That thing, whatever it was, was now approaching. Ashley was still trying to reason in her mind what on earth it could be. Maybe this was a really, really bad dream? Probably. Ashley didn't feel like testing it by pinching herself, just in case it wasn't all a dream. Ashley didn't want to know. She didn't want to think this was real.
"Let's get out of here. Too creepy," Ashley whispered extremely quietly, so whatever that thing was wouldn't hear them. By this time, Ashley forgot that she had the hiccups just a few minutes ago. Too scared. Ashley could barely think straight at this point. It would be best if they could get out of here fast. She looked at Anthony, no longer smiling.

(( push it baby, push it outta control, i got my gun cocked tight and i'm ready to blow ))- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Anthony took in a shaky breath and nodded his head, unable to function correctly with the weird looking ghost thing coming towards him. He took his arms away from her waist and then took one of her hands, tugging on it gently. He started to walk and then picked up his speed when he heard a cry of some kind. He was practically dragging the girl out of the woods but once they were away from that thing he slowed his pace.
He looked back at her and blinked a few times, wondering what the noise he heard was. When he decided that he probably didn't want to know he pressed his lips together, hoping that the thing was long gone. "Are you okay?" he asked, at least her hiccups were gone.

Ashley ran alongside Anthony out of the woods. She panted as she ran. Dang heavy breathing. Her stomach hurt from running after eating, but Ashley didn't care. She had to get out of there. The trees flew by. It was getting lighter. They were reaching the exit now. Ashley allowed herself a second to look back to see if that thing, whatever it was, was following them. It wasn't. It was pretty far in the distance now. Thank God.
A moment later, the two were out of the woods. Unfortunately, Anthony was faster than her, so by the time they were out of the woods, her arm felt like it was going to be pulled out of its socket. She panted, and rubbed it. "Ouch," she said. Then in response to his question, she replied, "I'll be okay. What was that thing?" Ashley wasn't sure she wanted an answer to that last bit. She sure hoped this was a dream. Wait, if her arm was hurting so badly, it couldn't be. Crap, there was something there. But what?

(( push it baby, push it outta control, i got my gun cocked tight and i'm ready to blow ))- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Anthony normally would have been breathing heavily but he recently started conditioning for football, so he was in shape by now. He looked over the girls shoulders and into the woods, praying that whatever that thing was couldn't come out into daylight. if that did happen to be true, he made a mental note in his head not to wander outside in the dark too often.
When she asked him what the thing was he simply shrugged. He noticed that she was rubbing her arm and he instantly felt bad for hurting her. "I'm sorry about that," He mumbled shyly, bringing his hand up to the back of his neck. It's not like he meant to hurt her though, he was probably keeping her from getting hurt. Unless that ghost they saw was a creepy version of Casper. It was very doubtful though considering the ghost they saw looked extremely unpleasant. "I'm not sure what it was," He pressed his lips together, hoping she wouldn't think he was dumb. "I think it was a ghost maybe."

Ashley did not believe in ghosts. Never had. The idea of Anthony suggesting one was a bit of a shock. Ashley took a few deep breaths. Her heart was beating so fast she thought she would burst. Why so much adrenaline? Ashley took a few more slow breaths and hoped it would help. She sat down on the ground. Who cared if her jeans got a little dirty? Ashley needed to calm down. "You're kidding, right? There's no such thing as ghosts," Ashley said, half to convince herself.
Ashley looked back into the woods again. The unidentified glowing object wasn't in sight. Ashley half thought it was just their imagination. Well, on a happier note, Ashley hadn't screamed. That surprised her slightly, now that she thought about it. Back at home, every time she heard a bump in the night she'd scream. It wasn't as scary for her when other people were there. Maybe that's why she hadn't screamed. Or perhaps she didn't have time to think.

(( push it baby, push it outta control, i got my gun cocked tight and i'm ready to blow ))- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Anthony rolled his eyes at the younger girl and sat down beside her, laying back in the grass while placing his arms behind his head. "So, then what was it?" He asked, cocking an eyebrow. He knew that it had to be a ghost, the school was said to be haunted and he now believed it.
Normally he wasn't one to believe in those sorts of things but if he had some proof along with it, hell, he'd believe anything. He snorted, glancing at the girl for a moment and raising his other eyebrow. "Would you like to go back there and check for yourself what it is?" He asked, knowing that she probably wouldn't want to go and check, but if she did he'd probably go too.

Go back in? Was Anthony crazy? No, Ashley was not interested in going back in after she had just run out. But she would be more polite than that. "Nah. I'm just not inclined to believe in ghost stories. But I wonder what the heck..." Ashley trailed off and looked back at the woods. It was creepy there. Fortunately, Ashley's heart rate was returning to normal now. Phew. There was nothing there. Did they just imagine it? Hard to believe they had the same hallucination.
"What do we do now?" Ashley asked, looking back at Anthony. She wasn't smiling this time.

He seriously wanted to go into the woods and see what that thing was. "I think we should go and check it out again." He flashed a dazzling smile and gave her a small wink, pulling her up with his hands. "Plus, if there's no ghosts then we won't have a problem, will we?" He asked, letting go of her one hand but continuing to hold the other one. "Come on, I'll protect you," He promised, tugging her behind him.

Ashley nodded reluctantly and stood up. "Well, if you say so," she said. They began to walk back into the woods. It still seemed a little spooky in there, but somehow... less so. The leaves rustled as she walked past and Ashley saw a squirrel run by eating some leaves. Interestingly enough, there had been no acorns again. Ashley worried about the squirrels, but maybe they would be okay.
There seemed to be nothing there this time. Ashley kept waiting for something to jump out and scare them at the moment she least expected it, but nothing was happening. Maybe they had just been imagining it. "I don't see anything, do you?" she asked, looking at Anthony. The smile was returning to her face. This was too weird.

He scanned everywhere, looking for the ghost but saw nothing. He shrugged it off and looked down at Ashley, smiling back at her when she flashed a smile. "I don't see anything either. He replied, but no sooner did he say that he heard a rustling from behind him. "But I did just hear something," He turned around and let go of Ashley's hand. Then he walked to where he heard the noise, nothing was there. He gulped and felt something watching him.

Ashley froze. She thought she heard something too. This place still seemed a little less creepy than before. Perhaps it was simply them being paranoid now. Most likely. She didn't see anything. The sounds could just be another squirrel. Ashley figured it would be best to go inside. "I don't think anything's here. Whatever it was must have disappeared. Maybe we should go back inside?"
Ashley was still a little scared. She hadn't exactly wanted to go go out here, but she didn't want to leave Anthony either. What to do? Ashley hoped Anthony would be satisfied soon and they could get out of here. The wind blew again and the leaves rustled. Ashley pulled her coat tighter and the wind blew her hair around. Darn.

(( push it baby, push it outta control, i got my gun cocked tight and i'm ready to blow ))- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Anthony looked down at her and shrugged his shoulders. He chewed on his bottom lip and scanned the forest another time, just to make sure that nothing was there with them. After a few minutes he was completely satisfied and he looked down at her once again. She didn't look like she wanted to be there at all, and he wasn't going to be a jerk and have her stay only because he wanted to be there to look around. It was wrong to do that, and he knew it. "All right, let's get out of here." He chuckled lightheartedly and wrapped his arm around her shoulders in a goofy way. "We're off!" He exclaimed, leading them out of the woods.
When he saw the clearing he let out a small sigh of relief. He didn't want to admit it but that woods gave him the complete creeps now. Never in his life did he ever see a weird...whatever it was.. come after him like that. When the thought of it alone started to bother him he shook his head, as if to clear his thoughts. He glanced over at his friends who were giving him a thumbs up, most likely thinking that he hooked up with the innocent girl in the woods. He couldn't help but roll his eyes at their behavior. He wasn't usually one to just hook up with a freshman. It would be mean considering it was their first year and everything was new to them. It would also be extremely easy if you got the right ones. There was a lot of slutty freshman. However, he didn't believe that Ashley was one. That or she was very good at hiding it.
He pressed his lips together and looked down at her once again. "What would you like to do, or do you feel like getting away from me?" He asked, raising his eyebrows with amusement. Maybe the girl didn't even want to be hanging around him anymore. It wouldn't bother him but he enjoyed the company of another person that wasn't constantly trying to 'get some'
